Election monitor documented the lack of sealed ballots in Chin State on the day of polls.

A Shan party registered for the upcoming elections in Burma has been blocked from campaigning for votes in the country’s eastern Karenni state.

The chairman of the Shan Nationalities Democratic Party (SNDP), Sai Ai Pao, said that Central Executive Committee members on 28 July were denied entry to Loikaw, capital of Karenni state and near the border with Shan state. The group was blocked by the regional Election Commission (EC) secretary, he added.

According to inside networks, there were about 1,700 eligible voters in Pouk Taw Township constituency 5, Arakan State, but only about 600 of them voted. Most of them boycotted the election. Although there was not advance voting, there were about 40 advance votes when votes are counted. There were many people in Kyoung Sout village who could not vote, as they were not in voters list. The village head of A’ Lal Kyun ran away with ballot boxes, as so many people voted for RNDP instead of USDP.

A citizen in Shan State who spoke to Burma Election Tracker described the lack of voter education. "I didn't vote. I'm a student. There's no public educational awareness and explanation regarding election, and people know nothing."

A citizen in Karen State who spoke with Burma Election Tracker described the lack of voter education.

"I knew that I had to vote on the November 7, but I actually did not have good understanding on it. No one explained about the election. I did not cast advance, and I did not vote on the election day also. I have been hearing announcements but don't understand."

A citizen in Pegu Division who spoke to Burma Election Tracker described the authorities tight control over a stage managed election process tilted in favor of USDP.

A citizen in Mandalay Division told Burma Election Tracker, "I voted for USDP because I didn't know which party to vote for. There was no voter education."

A citizen from Sagaing Division told Burma Election Tracker, "I had to cast advance vote for USDP."

A citizen in Irrawaddy Division who spoke to Burma Election Tracker said, "There was no voter education. I voted USDP like my friends did."

A citizen in Irrawaddy Division who spoke to Burma Election Tracker described the lack of voter education and options for voters. "We voted. Since we have no other party other than NUP, we had to vote for it. There was no voter education and there were police watching at the polling station and photographs were taken there too."
